A Moment of Silence for Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter

steve irwin crocodile hunter

Famous TV host Steve Irwin, also known as the 'Crocodile Hunter', has died. He was killed Monday morning by a stingray barb that went through his chest while filming a documentary off the Australian coast.

The "Crocodile Hunter" mesmerized show viewers with his enthusiasm and fearlessness for doing what any other mere mortal man would have deemed impossible.

He was a "Man's Man" in his own right -- cajones of steel and bigger than the crocodiles and other wildlife he handled.

Although he'll be remembered for his nature and environmental conservation work, I will always remember him as a man who lived his life on his own terms and followed his dreams.

He will be truly missed.

The man was an idiot. He encouraged children to mess with dangerous animals… not a problem in Britain, but a huge problem in Australia. Home to Taipans, Funnel-Web spiders & large crocs plus other deadly creatures too numerous to list.

I think Jason over at 37 Signals said it best.
… he had a tremendous respect for his work and the animals he worked with. Any bites, any mishaps, any close calls were his fault, not the animal’s. Steve was in their territory, they weren’t in his. And he reminded his audience of this all the time.

Steve was kind of kooky but he did so much for the environment and animals. He poured all the millions he made into preserving the wildlife and the environment and I just think we should all pay our respects. He was not just a nationally recognised symbol but international. I just hope that his spirit lives on in many other Australians out there and we all chip in to save the environment form needless destruction.
Peace out and long live the croc hunter.
